Journalists have been jailed for spreading a story of mismanagement by government officials which the government claimed was false.^[1] This is viewed as an abuse of government power.

Facebook has been accused of helping to incite genocide in the country for not taking down false information and hate speech. Facebook has invested in resources from artificial intelligence language and photo detection to measures to slow the spread of certain content.^[2]
