Venezuela has three main audiences for political debates online: Maduro supporters, Maduro opponents and foreign actors. Disinformation has been used by the Maduro regime through legitimate accounts as well as bots. 25.3% of Venezuelans rely on social media for news.[1] With independent media coming under increasing attack, social media has become a more important tool for news.[2]
According to DerechosDigitales government sanctioned kiosks will pay food coupons to trolls willing to post on Twitter on Instagram with pro-government messaging.[3]
