In 2020 the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) for­m­ed a committee that will prepare a legal framework to counter the spread of pandemic related misinformation.[1]

The Citizens Protection (Against Online Harm) Rules (2020) and it's parent acts: the Pakistan Telecommunication (Re-organization) Act (1996) and the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (2016) are aimed at controlling online content created by Pakistani Citizens. Rule 3 establishes an Office of the National Coordinator, whose responsibilities include coordinating efforts of stakeholders involved in the regulation of online systems, advising federal or provincial governments, issuing instructions to government departments and agencies, and engaging with social media companies on behalf of the federal government.[2][3]
